the Fraser River in Delta, British Columbia,

Facilities: West Bay’s yacht
construction complex includes over 100,000 sq.
ft. of climate-controlled design, office and
production space on 6.5 acres of land, with a
full service shipyard including concrete floats
and a floating boathouse, and a 250 ton marine
ways. Facilities include a 35,100 sq. ft. F-1
class building, completed in mid-2003, that
serves as West Bay’s principal fiberglass shop.

Leadership: Semi-retired, Ben & Leidy
Vermeulen remain active in the company as
founders with Ben Vermeulen serving as chairman
of the board of directors. Wes Vermeulen, Ben
and Leidy’s eldest son, is president. Bas
Vermeulen, the elder Vermeulen’s younger son, is
vice president in charge of design &
engineering, as well as product development. Rochelle Kilberg, the Vermeulen’s
daughter, specializes in interior design. Other
family members, including Wes Vermeulen’s wife,
Lynda, and Rochelle Kilberg’s husband, Danny,
also hold key positions within the company.
Specifications: Yachts come equipped
with all necessary systems and required safety
equipment. Navigation and communication
electronics, entertainment systems, ship’s
tender, pilothouse helm seats, life raft and
EPIRB are all optional items. A specification
sheet detailing all standard items is available
for each model (except for SonShip 110, which
are typically custom projects).

Propulsion systems:
All yachts are powered by twin diesel inboard
engines. The specification sheet for each model
details the standard propulsion power package.
Alternative engine choices are available. West
Bay SonShip has experience working with all major
marine engine manufacturers and products.

items is available for each model (except for
SonShip 110, which are typically custom
projects).
